The Dragon's Nest

The Dragon’s Nest

There was once a king who was very fond of hunting fierce animals like the leopard, the tiger, and the lion. The brave young king had killed almost every sort of fierce beast. Still he wanted to put his strength and skill to the hardest test. So he decided to hunt some fearful dragon.

After a long search, the king heard the thunder of the dragon. It was very huge, had a serpent body and wings as big as the sails of the ship. The king set an arrow to his bow and got ready to face the dragon.

As soon as the dragon appeared, the king shot an arrow at it and the dragon fell down lifeless. But, in no time, a smaller dragon attacked the king. It was the female of the killed dragon. But the brave king killed it as well.

At that very moment, the king was highly surprised to see the heads of four new-born dragons popping out of the cave. They were yet as small as lizards. So the king felt guilty of having deprived them of their parents.

In order to make amends for what the king had done, he carried the young dragons to his palace and began to bring them up. The dragons grew up so affectionate pets and always accompanied the king wherever went. So, each of them was trained to accept reins and a saddle.

Whenever the young king’s mother asked him to marry, he would say, “I shall marry a princess who is able to ride a dragon”.

It was with much difficulty that such a princess was found. So, the king married her and the couple often enjoyed happy dragon-rides.

Wise Joanna (short story)

Wise Joanna

Rose was a rich girl who was extremely beautiful as well. In spite of these two gifts of God, Rose had two bad habits, one that she was very lazy and the other that she was very careless.

When Rose sat weaving, she would waste a lot of flax- much more than she used. When she came to have a new dress, she would wear it two or three times only. Then she would discard it and throw it away saying that she had stopped liking it.

Now, Rose had a maid named Joanna who was poor and had average looks only. But she was very careful and hard-working. She would gather the dresses thrown away by Rose and put it in her bag. Not only this, she picked up the flax wasted by her mistress and preserved it with utmost care.

One day, a young man saw Rose and was bewitched by her beauty. So, he asked for Rose’s hand in marriage. The young man was very handsome, kind and God-loving. So, the marriage celebration was organized. Rose invited all her friends. Joanna was also there. She had prepared for herself a very beautiful dress out of the clothes rejected by Rose.

When Rose noticed Joanna’s beautiful dress, she felt surprised as well as annoyed. So she sang-

“Look at this serving girl, Joanna,
Though she looks very stunning;
She is wearing my rejects only,
and has come to see my wedding."

The bridegroom heard Rose’s song and asked her to explain it. Hearing the explanation, the young man thought for a while and said, “Well! whereas Rose is so careless. Joanna is just the opposite. So, it is she who will be my wife, not Rose.”

Thus wasteful Rose came to lose her fiancĂ© while Joanna, the wise, got him as her husband.

Friend of Mine

Friend of Mine

I’m lucky to have a friend like you
Who support and guide me in what to do
Someone who’s really special to me
And also the one who shows me sympathy

You are the greatest thing I ever have
A blessing from the heavens above
You are worth than anything
And values more than everything

You are someone to keep
Always be in my side when I’m in the deep
You help me in times of need
Guide me in my deed

So I promise I will do my part
Even though we’re apart
I’ll be with you all the time
Because you’re my friend from the start.

Friends to Lovers

Friends to Lovers

I will never forget
The time we first met
It’s my first time to talk to you
And what I did is to make joke on you

We became the best of friends
And share things till the day end
We have our jokes and fights hundreds times
But he always say, “Don’t worry, I don’t mind”

Things passed as fast as time,
And our feelings change as what we are
I love the way he smile
And I know he loves me very much

But one thing inside me,
I’m also a coward and a confused one
I don’t ever want to lose someone like him
A good friend and an important one

I thank God for having him
I feel so blessed knowing someone like him
I swear I don’t want to let him go
Because my heart says, “I love you so.”

My Everything!

My Everything!

He told me a promise
Never look back for nothing
Nor take a glance or glimpse
Take it from Him, for you’ll better see

He told me “He needs me”,
I suppose!
How true is it? How far it could?
How much could I take it?
But it’s really true for
I really do!

He never gives pain
nor sees time
He does everything for me and takes
nothing away
Better to know Him! You may seek Him…
He’s my angel and He’s
my everything

Yes! He has changed me!
He makes me feel special
He crosses pain and goes all the way
Thank you God for everything!
